Or, as one man was quoted in the video, “is Thomas Beatie an IT?” This story is incredibly fascinating; especially in the debate it brings to the table. Should humans have the right to do with their lives however they please so long as it doesn’t negatively affect others? I believe the answer is yes. However, how do we know that Thomas Beatie isn’t negatively affecting his own child? How will his alterations physically affect the baby? When that child grows up, will she be able to have her own child? As of now, Beatie and his wife and child live in a house with the blinds closed and security cameras. The video of Thomas Beatie leaves such controversial issues about gender roles in society. Although the boundary between male and female gender role has been more flexible these days, there should be some sort of restriction towards male pregnancy for younger generation to avoid the misinterpreted concept of gender. How should Thomas explain the child about him giving birth and what if the child cannot fit into the society properly? There are numerous questions following after this issue continuously that could never be resolved.
